the story behind the name
HMCS Stormont (K327), a Royal Canadian Navy corvette commissioned during World War II, played a vital role in convoy escorts across the dangerous Atlantic, surviving multiple attacks and contributing to the protection of vital supply lines until her decommissioning in 1945.

Last year's game involved collecting notes and scoring them in a speaker or amplifier. In the endgame, robots would hang from a metal chain, potentially scoring in the trap, while human players aimed to earn extra points by tossing notes onto a pole above the robots.

This year's robots had to pick up and position cubes and cones on grids to get points, while building the connections allowed you to collect even more points. Endgame teams would drive onto a balance board, with points awarded based on the number of robots that had balanced.

2020/21 - Ortona
the story behind the name
The Battle of Ortona in December 1943, a brutal and intense urban conflict fought between Canadian and German forces, saw Canadian soldiers, known for their fierce house-to-house fighting tactics, successfully capture the Italian town of Ortona, marking a key victory in the Italian Campaign and demonstrating the resolve of the Allies in the face of heavy resistance.

During the pandemic, the theme Infinite Recharge was reused for both 2020 and 2021. The objective was to shoot power cells into high and low goals. At endgame, robots would park under or climb onto the shield generator.

In 2018, the theme was Retro 8bit. Teams would place power cubes on top of a scale to tip it in their favour. Allincers could trade power cubes for power ups that would give them an advantage for the round.

the story behind the name
Tonka Toy Trucks, introduced in 1947 by the Minnesota-based Mound Metalcraft Company (later renamed Tonka), quickly became famous for their rugged steel construction and realistic designs, making them a beloved symbol of durability and childhood nostalgia, with the brand evolving into a cornerstone of American toys and influencing generations of kids to embrace imaginative play and outdoor adventure.

Our third-year theme was steamworks. The goal was to stoot fuel into a simulated boiler, which would then take the steam into a aircraft in the middle of the field. At endgame, teams would climb the hanging ropes of the airships.

Recycle Rush was the theme for our rookie year. The object of the game was for the robots to deposit trash within recycling containers that were positioned on the scoring platforms, along with picking up and stacking bins on the scoring platforms.
