Sub-Teams

What do We do?

In under 8 weeks our 5 sub-teams build a robot end-to-end, fully functioning. Check out how we do this!

What it means to be in robotics

Robotics involves a combination of creativity, technical skills, and collaboration to tackle complex problems and challenges.

Without teamwork and a passion to learn, transforming ideas into practical machines will be impossible.

Manufacturing

The Manufacturing Sub-Team creates the parts needed for the robot and assembles them based on the Design Team's specifications. They use detailed engineering drawings to ensure the components are built accurately and assembled together to form a fully functional robot using cutting edge equipment in an industry-level, fully quipped machine shop. Our students in this sub-team continue on to careers in advanced manufacturing engineering technology.

Electrical

The Electrical Sub-Team handles all the main electrical components and wiring for the robot, integrating all control systems into a connected ecosystem. This allows for the powered components, such sensors and motors and visual processors to operate cohesively. The team ensures copoentn and overall operational compliance and efficiency. Students in this team go on to careers in electrical and mechatronic engineering technologies.

design

The Design Sub-Team models and simulated the individual parts of the robot, including its mechanisms and prototypes.  This involves creating detailed plans for each component and testing prototypes to ensure they function as intended and meet the required specifications. Students in this team go on to careers in mechanical engineerings, mechatronics and industrial design fields using cutting-edge design software.

marketing

The Marketing Team is responsible for the strategic branding, promotion and sponsorship engagement that help drive the funding and community engagement of the program. Members of this team learn business administration, business development, graphic design, animation, and web design. Students from this team go on to business studies, advertising & promotion and film technology programs.

Programming

The Programming Sub-Team is responsible for writing the code that controls the robot’s actions and systems. They develop the software that allows the robot to interact with its environment, including managing sensors, motors, and other components. This team focuses on creating algorithms that enable the robot to perform tasks autonomously or in response to commands. Students in this sub-team gain valuable experience in coding, troubleshooting, and refining software to ensure the robot operates efficiently and effectively.
